Yaskawa Electric was founded in Japan in 1915 by Daigorou Yaskawa. Now, over 100 years later, they have a global dominance in many aspects of motion control and electronics. That includes Robots.

Yaskawa has sold more than 600,000 Robots worldwide, surpassing the 500,000 unit milestone in February of 2021.

While each of the top 4 manufacturers launched their first robots in the ;mid 1970s, Yaskawa was the only one with decades of prior motion control and servo motor development. Its 1958 release of the Minertia (minimal inertia) servo motor improved motor control response time by two orders of magnitude and set a new global performance standard. In 1971 the trademark “Mechatronic” was awarded to Yaskawa. Yaskawa’s core competence is motion control.
